Keep Your Child’s Spine Healthy! As the school year kicks into high gear and fall sports are full swing, experts recommend parents take measures to protect their children’s spinal health. Backpacks and electronic devices can pose a threat to your child’s backs, necks, and shoulders if used improperly.

According to HealthDay (August 2015), “In 2013, there were more than 5,400 backpack related injuries treated in emergency rooms in the United States. Dr. Scott Bautch, a member of the American Chiropractic Association’s Council on Occupational Health, advises that a backpack should no more than 5-10% of a child’s weight and should never be wider or longer than the torso (base of neck to waist). When using electronic devices, children should look down with their eyes and try not to bend their necks. It is important to remember that spinal pain in children is not normal, and a child who complains of either back pain or neck pain should be evaluated by a qualified healthcare provider.” Dr. Elledge examines new adult patients consistently that have never had their spines examined nor had preventative imagining performed. Being proactive and conscious are the keys to maintaining a healthy spine and encouraging proper motion. The earlier a problem is detected, the […] Read More

The School Year Brings Added Physical and Emotional Stress for Kids The mass majority of the American population think chiropractic care is just for neck pain or a bad back, but as many parents know chiropractic care has amazing benefits for children.  Chiropractic visits are not just for when your child is hurting or has been involved in an accident.  Millions of parents bring their babies and infants to the OKC chiropractor for a host of health reason.  The advantages of chiropractic care are vast and can be very beneficial for many common ailments including, but not limited to, the following: bed wetting, asthma, allergies, immunity issues like colds and flus, digestive issues, colic, irritability and even behavioral issues. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR VOTING US #1 IN OKC!! I wanted to personally write and thank all of our wonderful patients for voting our clinic #1 in Oklahoma City!  It is such an awesome honor to have so many amazing patients who trust us daily with their friends and families’ care.  We strive to be a source of confidence and excellence in a healthcare arena that is many times confusing and detached.  Chiropractic and acupuncture may be considered alternative treatments, but the truth is so much simpler than that. They both focus on removing interference from the nervous system and allowing the body to do what it was designed to do, and that’s heal itself!  The beauty of adjusting the spine and taking pressure off a pinched nerve is something that is altogether powerful and all encompassing in its simplicity and complexity.  I hope that all of our patients realize that there is nothing more important than your spine, and your underlying nervous system.  It controls all communication in the body even down to a cellular level.  How cool is that?!  We do not take that responsibility lightly and we are continually honored and humbled by your constant referrals into our office. Jenn, Demi and I will always do […] Read More

THE BEST OF 2014 We are always reading up on what is new and current in the Chiropractic world and we wanted to take this opportunity to share two of our favorite articles in 2014 from Circle of Docs.  The statistics and facts in these two articles speak for themselves, CHIROPRACTIC SHOULD BE THE FIRST CHOICE!   Surgery Less Likely if a Doctor of Chiropractic is Seen First A study looking at 1885 workers, 174 of which had lumbar spine surgery in the last three years, sought to identify early predictors of having lumbar spine surgery. The authors reported “Approximately 42.7% of workers who first saw a surgeon had surgery, in contrast to only 1.5% of those who saw a chiropractor. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of the multivariate model was 0.93 (95% confidence interval, 0.92-0.95), indicating excellent ability to discriminate between workers who would versus would not have surgery.” https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23238486/   Decreased Costs and Utilization of Medical Services with Chiropractic Care Spectacular decreases in the utilization of medical services and their attendant costs were observed when Doctors of OKC Chiropractic were used as first contact providers. In an Independent Practice Association (IPA) which permitted patients to select a doctor of chiropractic as their primary care […] Read More
